Sir Frank Whittle Studio School By Royal Appointment

Staff and students of the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School in Lutterworth were delighted to be invited to Buckingham Palace on Monday 12th October as guests of HRH Duke of York for the first National Studio Schools Trust Student Conference.
As part of the experience staff and students were invited in to parts of the Palace rarely seen by the public and the event was held in the room used by the Queen when awarding Knighthoods! HRH Duke of York addressed the gathered staff and students and reinforced the importance of Studio Schools in providing high quality academic and vocational study linked with students attending work placements.
Mr. Hostead, Head of Sir Frank Whittle Studio School commented “It truly is an honour to be invited by HRH Duke of York to Buckingham Palace to share in the great work of Studio Schools that is being done up and down the country. Sir Frank Whittle Studio School goes from strength to strength and being invited to such a prestigious event if recognition of this.”  To be able to give students such an experience really was a once in a lifetime event.  It underlines the amazing attitudes our students have and the great work all of the staff and students at Sir Frank Whittle Studio School do.  It really is a whirlwind of great things at Sir Frank Whittle at the moment.  We have recently been awarded the High Commended Award by Niche in the Shaping Tomorrows Leaders category and in a few short weeks our brand new £3m building will be completed”.
