Sir Frank Whittle Studio School Welcomes Apprentice Star Claire Young to Enterprise Day

Newly opened Sir Frank Whittle Studio School hosted an Enterprise Day this week with the help of former Apprentice star Claire Young. The aim of the day was for students to create a new flavour of sweet, design the packaging and planning the advertising and promotion. Students could even practice baking the sweets as Lutterworth Waitrose kindly donated various ingredients for the students to use.

Local independent sweet shop, Sugar Mouse, showed students how their sweets are packaged and displayed and students got ideas from other Lutterworth shops for examples of marketing and promotion.

Students, working in 8 teams presented their final products to a panel of “dragon” judges, led by Claire Young herself alongside her associates from Impact Creative Partnership and Head of the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School, Paul Hostead .

There were many ideas exhibited from fudge (in a variety of colours and flavours) to many chocolate concoctions with so many fillings from the usual to very unusual! The winning team covered all of the criteria and each person spoke with clarity and understanding, so well done to The Dream Team and their Sugar Lips creation.

Apprentice star, Claire Young remarked “I was really impressed with the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School. The students were enthusiastic, keen to work and really engaged in the whole day.  I found them to be very professional, polite and most definitely employable.  Their ability to think on their feet, come up with new ideas, work in a team and stand up to present was really outstanding. They should be proud of themselves, a job well done!  Potential entrepreneurs of the future I think".
