Year 13 Results

Sir Frank Whittle Studio School staff and students are celebrating after students achieved truly phenomenal results.  Students have exceeded their target grades and excelled at the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School which opened in September 2014 specialising in Engineering and Business.

We are delighted to announce a 100% pass rate for the Engineering and Business courses that students have studied.  In addition to this 57% of students achieved the best possible results of Distinction*/Distinction, the equivalent of A-Level A*/A grades.

Mr Hostead, Headteacher of Sir Frank Whittle Studio School commented, “The results we have achieved truly are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and students.  This is our first set of results and is an excellent example of how the Studio School model, which combines academic study and work, really does benefit young people and push them to achieve the very best.

To have 57% of students achieve Distinction*/Distinction grades (the equivalent of A*/A grades) is absolutely fantastic.  Students joined us in September 2014 from a number of other schools and based on their prior attainment none of the students were predicted above a Merit grade.

The results show that when students are given the opportunity to excel and work with our fantastic industrial partners there really is no barrier they can’t overcome”.

100% of students have secured their first choice Post 18 including University, Apprenticeships and employment.

Stand out points:

  • 100% pass rate in both Business and Engineering
  • In Engineering 50% of students achieved all Distinction*-Distinction grades
  • In Business 40% of students achieved all Distinction* grades
